Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan has been removed from the World Cup.

It was due to an injury to his left thumb.

Shakib suffered the injury while batting in Bangladesh's match against Sri Lanka on 6 November 2023 in Delhi.

A post-match X-ray confirmed that he had suffered a fracture, and as a result, he has been ruled out of the Bangladesh team's final match against Australia on November 11 in Pune.
